The beginning of the hunt

The weaver of this enchanted tapestry

knew manner of things: weddings engender christenings,

and he laid out scenes as cards —

with Death card one before Captivity.

Will this fair garb be spared in the thicket?

Unconcerned, he unfolded the hunt ─

once dire need long turned into amusement ─

peacock’s plumes and tresses to the shoulders.

Bold every hunter, each one dares to dare,

intoxication — light, remote the remorse…

In the air, a sparkling merriment,

and every breath stirs in both life and death.
